As we look ahead to a spectacular celebration of the 25th Maryland Film Festival, our Board of Directors has decided to postpone the event until 2024 while we ensure we have the time and resources to mark this milestone.
Like other sectors of the film industry, the Maryland Film Festival, which owns and operates the Parkway Theater in the Station North Arts and Entertainment District, has been impacted by the lingering effects of the pandemic and evolving filmgoing habits. The board concluded that in order to make the 25th Maryland Film Festival the best possible celebration and to support the organization’s sustainability over the long term, it was necessary to spend the next few months developing a revised business model and plan. In the meantime, the Parkway Theater will continue to operate, and we urge film lovers to visit.
Each spring, the festival attracts thousands of people to the Parkway and other local theaters, showcasing brilliant filmmakers and generating significant economic activity in Baltimore. We look forward to resuming this vital mission.
We will continue to provide updates on our progress and plans for 2024.
