College Behind Bars explores the transformative power of education through the eyes of incarcerated men and women trying to earn college degrees and turn their lives around in one of the most rigorous and effective prison education programs in the United States – the Bard Prison Initiative (BPI). College Behind Bars is directed by Novick, produced by Botstein, and executive produced by Ken Burns.
This event is being co-hosted by Maryland Public Television and the Goucher Prison Education Partnership (GPEP), a division of Goucher College that offers an excellent college education to 130 men and women incarcerated in Maryland. GPEP is also a member of the Bard Prison Initiative’s Consortium for the Liberal Arts in Prison.
